Which SMART™ saddle do you need?
SADDLE MODEL – A range of saddle base and seat styles are available, depending on your horse type and discipline.
SMART™ saddle range
– Our popular range of GP, Dressage, Jump & Show saddles, for all round multi-discipline riding. Incorporates large Velcro panels for fitting and adjusting knee or thigh blocks according to the rider’s preference.
- Fully flexible RigidFree™ saddle design - Flexible base and unique self-tensioning girthing system enables saddle stability whilst maintaining complete freedom of movement of the horses’ back and shoulder.
- Reduced peak pressure - Flexible panels reduce peak pressures and incorporate impact absorbing materials to protect the horse and support the rider.
- Rider security - The precision moulded, flexible seat ensures rider security and balance. The shock absorbing properties also provide rider symmetry and comfort.
SMART NATIVE™ saddle range
- Incorporates all the advantages of the unique SMART™saddle system, but features a low profile base panel shape more suited to the wider or rounder breeds that have little wither shape. The base gives support along the dorsal muscles with subtle additional lift over the wither area, sitting much closer to the horse or pony.
This unique base shape makes this saddle ideal for use on the wider fit or traditional types such as Mountain and Moorland, Arabian and Iberian breeds, giving enhanced horse fit and providing maximum security and comfort for the rider. Available to order in GP, Dressage, Jump and Show style.
SMART SPORT V2™
- To be launched at Badminton 2013. Available in Dressage and Jump style, the SMART™ SPORT V2 saddle has been developed to meet the extra demands and precision required by high performance horses and riders. The new technology enables optimised fit for those horses with a leaner, fitter back shape or higher wither profile.

The deeper seat and straight cut flap support the rider when riding with a long leg, dressage position.
Customised knee bocks can be positioned as required by the rider. The close-contact flexible saddle helps to refine communication and enhances feel whilst providing balance and support.

GP saddle
For all round riding. The adaptable flap style allows the rider to easily change between a deep seat flat work position to a balanced and secure jumping position.
Rider support can be customised by using interchangeable knee blocks for different disciplines.

Jump saddle
For jumping and fast work. The flexible saddle allows a natural bascule over bigger fences and the reach of the galloping and jumping horse is unimpeded.
The forward cut knee flap supports the rider with a shorter stirrup length and the flatter seat shape does not obstruct the rider when adjusting their position over fences.

Show saddle
This ultra-traditional looking saddle is popular in the show ring.
The luxurious saddle comes with soft suede seat and knee rolls as standard. The stylish cut of the knee flap shows off the horse’s shoulder and movement to greatest effect.
The low profile seat and cantle support the rider, creating an elegant overall picture.

SADDLE SIZE – Choose your size to suit the rider
SMART™ saddles are selected first for the rider size, then fitted and balanced to the horse size or shape. Once the size, model and style have been decided on, the rider is able to make slight adjustments to ride comfortably in just one saddle on any horse.
We recommend that a test ride with an Approved Advisor is carried out before ordering a saddle. This opportunity to feel the different sizes and models and receive advice on optimum balance and fit for horse and rider comfort will guide you towards the best saddle choice.
As a general rule, if it is appropriate for the rider to sit on the horse, their saddle size will also be appropriate for the horse. Short backed and small horses can be comfortably ridden in larger saddle sizes because the flexible seat and cantle allow movement with the horse’s back action, avoiding pressure and bridging at the rear; this would not be possible in a traditional treed saddle, which should normally be positioned in front of the last rib.

SMART™ SADDLE CUSTOMISATIONS
- Suede knee flaps or seat
- Longer or shorter flap length
- Suprabloc™ knee flap – positions the knee block on the top of the saddle flap to enhance rider support and security. The adjustable Suprabloc™ allows the rider to easily customise the position of the knee block to individual requirements and
‘tailor make’ the fit for a secure feel. This is of most benefit to the competition rider who requires extreme precision and accurate results.

We can organise all accessories, packaging and delivery for you. Your saddle will be delivered as soon as possible but please allow at least 28 days for non stock saddles. Outward postage and packing, which is non-refundable, will be charged at our current standard rate of £40.

FITTING ADVICE
We strongly recommend having a home consultation visit to ensure correct saddle model, size and fit for both horse and rider. When you try a SMART™ saddle you will receive advice on correct sizing, demonstrations on how to fit, monitor and balance the saddle to any horse and rider plus valuable support and advice whenever you need it.
As is the case with any saddle system, the SMART™ saddle fit needs to be kept under review as the horse’s back changes shape. However, unlike any other saddle, the SMART™ saddle is easy to regularly fit and adjust at home. Once the simple techniques are mastered, it becomes as easy as everyday tacking up.
